We Got Married!

November 14th, 2020 - Rancho Palos Verdes, California

We'd love for all of our friends and family to attend, but with all that is happening, we're only able to invite our immediate family to the ceremony.

Don't worry, we'll have a reception with everyone once things are safer.

About Us

groom

David Zearbaugh

From a galaxy far far away, the force is strong with this librarian. He's a total nerd, but you love him because he has a good heart and he can talk tech and will fix your computer for free. He loves going to Mammoth for snowboarding trips and tasting new types of tequila; seriously, ask him to recommend a good tequila. He may be quiet at first, but once you get to know him better, you'll have a hard time shutting him up.

groom

Vanessa Tavera

She's a family oriented nurse who loves to travel and party. She's a total foodie and is always looking for a cool new restaurant to try with great food and better vibes. Can you believe she's turning into quite the cook? Neither can we. She loves to kick a chancla aka dance and is a super shopaholic. We all know that she loves the water whether it's the lake, river, ocean or our new pool, you can find her catching a tan in the sun.

Our Story

David and Vanessa went to high school across the street from each other but didn't meet until they both started working at the Santa Fe Springs Library where they both worked during college. They dated for about a year and a half but their lives took separate paths. They always knew their paths would cross again.

Well their paths did cross about 10 years later and the sparks flew right away. They moved slowly at first, but quickly found strides where they left off. David had just started traveling, and Vanessa, a seasoned travel pro, took on the task of showing David the ropes. Their love grew as they explored wonderous new and exciting places together. Vanessa fell in love with David's improvised rhyming songs and David fell in love with Vanessa's charm and fearlessness. In November 2019, David decided he better put a ring on it and proposed on their European trip in front of the Matterhorn in Switzerland. Check out the timeline below for a recap of their journey.

  • First Sight

    June 2007

It all started at the Santa Fe Springs City Library where David and Vanessa met back in 2007. They dated for about a year and a half but their lives took separate paths. They always knew their paths would cross again.

  • Now Just Right

    March 2017

After a few years David and Vanessa reconnected at their favorite coffee shop, Tierra Mia where they ordered a Mocha Mexicano (his) and a Cafecito Cubano (hers). After that, the sparks flew all over again.

  • D.C.

    April 2017

David invited Vanessa to join him on his work trip and she "reluctantly" accepted his offer to come visit him in Washington D.C. After David's conference, they went sightseeing throughout the capital, visiting Lincoln's Memorial, the Washington State Monument, and the White House to name a few places.

  • Thailand

    November 2017

Vanessa crashed David and Miguel's Thailand trip (let's be honest, she was welcome). They saw quite a few temples, bartered in the jade markets, partied in Bangkok, and relaxed on a quite island.

  • San Francisco

    May 2018

Vanessa surprised David for his birthday and they took a quick flight for the weekend to San Francisco where they wined and dined and visited Alcatraz.

  • Kauai

    May 2018

David showed Vanessa the Kauai ropes since it's the Zearbaugh's favorite vacation destination. They went on long hikes, sunbathed at the amazing beaches, and swam with the turles. Java Kai coffee was a morning staple for sure.

  • Hong Kong

    November 2018

A couples trip took them to Hong Kong where they visited a buddhist monestary, got chased by monkeys, bartered for fake and real antiques, and got massages that were a little too friendly!

  • Zermatt

    December 12, 2019

Well, it was more of a European tour, but this is where they got engaged! This trip took them through Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Hungary. They visited Rome, Milan, Zermatt, Lucerne, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Vienna and Budhapest. There was lots of sightseeing, celebrating, and dining.

  • Rancho Palos Verdes

    November 14, 2020

The big day! It was a perfect day and while we couldn't invite all of our loved ones, it was just right. The ceremony was beautiful and the reception was a party at the level that only David & Vanessa could pull off. The look and feel was everything they wanted; and there was even lightsaber battles.
